September Viva la Verve Week One

Hello and Happy Labor Day! Hope you all are having a splendid holiday. It is a four-day weekend for me and that means a little extra time for creativity.
I just love playing along with the Viva la Verve sketch challenges. Each week a different Verve Diva provides a sketch to challenge us with and you just never know what you are going to get! Here is what Amber came up with for the first week of September:

I was really at a loss when I saw this sketch! Tall skinny cards are not my thing.Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net
But, since I had some tall pre-made card bases from K&Co. I decided I may as well challenge myself to use the sketch.

I got my idea for the color scheme from the CRE84FN challenge blog...

as well as from this weeks challenge at Stampin Sisters in Christ:
Challenge Nothing bright. Use 'quiet' colors in your creation, either pastels, or low key earthtones, soft, muted shades of beige or neutrals.

The sentiment for my card was inspired by The Paper Players:

One final look and a few details...
