Did someone say "distressing"? Yep, that's what I heard. Distressing is one of my favorite things to do. In fact, I rarely make a card without it. So, when I saw that our challenge this week at Sentimental Sundays was distressing, I thought "easy peasy" for me!
Since that was an easy part for me I decided to give myself the added challenge of making a easel card. Now, keep in mind this is my first ever easel card so, please go easy on me.
This is a 6x6 easel card. I distressed the edges of my blue designer paper on the top base layer with my distressing tool and then I inked them with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Faded Jeans. My vertical layer with the seam binding ribbon was distressed and inked also. I also used the Faded Jeans ink to sponge in the center of the lacy circles. I didn't have any flowers this color so I decided to blot my white Prima on the distress ink pad. I think it gives it kind of a rugged affect.
A couple of close ups...
There is another thing I love as much as I do distressing and that is my Our Daily Bread Designs stamps. Their Shining Light Challenge this week is distressing so, I was more than happy to break out my stamps and play along.
Another reason I chose their stamps for this card is because I made this card to give to someone very special to me who is getting ready to embark on a journey for the next four months and could really use some encouragement. What could be more encouraging than knowing that without a doubt our Lord is with us every step of the way! No matter what we face each day, we do not face it alone. I don't know about you, but that makes it a lot easier for me to get up every morning and face the day.
I'd also like to enter this card into the challenge at Stampin' Sister's In Christ this week where they are challenging you to add some sparkle to your card. I think my blue bling counts as sparkle!
Last but not least is another challenge I have come to enjoy and appreciate is Word Art Wednesday where each week they challenge you to create something with Scripture on it or any encouraging words.
Be sure to stop by Sentimental Sundays and see what my fellow designers created for this challenge. You are certain to be inspired.
Thanks for stopping by today. God Bless You!
